West Indies tour of Pakistan 2022, 1st ODI, match preview, predicted lineups

Pak vs WI
Pakistan host West Indies in the first ODI tomorrow

Pakistan take on the West Indies tomorrow in the first one-dayer of the 3-match series on the ongoing WI tour to Pak. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Date & Time : 8th June 2022, 4:00 PM (Local)

Venue : Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan

Pakistan last played a series at home against Australia in which they won the ODI series but lost the Tests and T20I’s. They will be confident going into the Indies ODI’s.

The Pakistani team will play next the 3-match ODI series in the Netherlands.

Pakistan will be lead by Babar Azam and they have named a strong squad with a mixture of good spinners and Pacers. They will look to exploit the subcontinental conditions well. The batting is very strong.

On the other hand, The Caribbean team are coming off of the back of a thumping 3-0 ODI series win in the Netherlands in which the dutch fought very well. West Indies will aim for points in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The Windies will have to bat well in the Asian conditions and be good with their bowling to get Pakistan out cheaply which will be hard.

They have named a strong squad for the series with good unit of pacers which can be deadly. Batting wise they look settled as well.

As for the wicket, it will be a balanced surface with something in it for the bowlers and batters.

Team news and possible lineups

There are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.

Pakistan XI : Zaman, I. ul-Haq, Azam (C), Shakeel, Rizwan (WK), I. Ahmed, S. Khan, Nawaz, H. Ali, S. Afridi, Rauf.

West Indies XI : Hope (WK), Brooks, Bonner, Pooran (C), King, Powell, Mayers, A. Joseph, Walsh, Hosein, Rutherford.

Prediction

Pakistan start favourites at home and I expect them to take a 1-0 lead.
