Vitality Blast 2022 – Kent Spitfires vs Somerset, match preview, predicted lineups

Ken vs Som
Match no. 2 of t20 blast 2022 between Kent Spitfires and Somerset takes place today

Defending champions Kent Spitfires take on Somerset in their opening game of t20 blast 2022 as the season begins. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Date & Time : 25th May 2022, 7:00 PM (Local)

Venue : St. Lawrence Ground, Canterbury

Kent Spitfires won the tournament last time around and they will be very confident heading into the tournament trying to clinch another title. They will have to play their brand of cricket. They are in South Group.

Kent are coached by Matthew Walker and he will tell his men to not be complacent and try to score as many as they can while batting and bowl teams out. They have eight other counties in their section.

Kent have key players like Jordan Cox, Daniel Bell-Drummond and Darren Stevens.

On the other hand, Somerset are a very good side and they will look to go one step ahead in this year’s competition by winning it as they finished runners-up last time around. They will have to play quality cricket in South Group.

Somerset are coached by Jason Kerr and he will impart ways to win games from crunch situations. They must bat well and utilise the English conditions in bowling.

Somerset key men include Tom Abell, Will Smeed & Roelof van der Merwe.

As for the wicket, it’s a good one for batting and teams will look to put huge runs on board.

Team news and possible lineups

There are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.

Kent Spitfires XI : Cox, D. Bell-Drummond, Denly, Blake, D. Stevens, Linde, Billings (C&WK), J. Logan, F. Klaassen, Milnes, Quinn.

Somerset XI : Abell (C), Rossouw, Smeed, Banton, S. Davies (WK), G. Bartlett, Lammonby, Gregory, R. van der Merwe, Hildreth, M. de Lange.

Prediction

I think toss will play a crucial role here with teams looking to bat first.
