Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid – 2019/20 Supercopa de España final match preview, predicted lineups
Real Madrid and rivals Atletico Madrid are set to go head to head on Sunday in the Spanish Super Cup final as both teams will go for glory.
Kick-off : 9:00 PM (Local)
Venue : King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah
Real Madrid will feel happy to have seen off Valencia to be in the position of claiming Spanish Super Cup glory. Also to see Barca not reach the final would have been sweet albeit missing out on some Clasico drama, if it had been.
Now though is time to be ready for the Madrid derby as Atletico Madrid have managed to set up a final with Real.
Zinedine Zidane know they are thin on attack and Atleti might be able to trouble them in that way. But still they have a good defence.
Los Blancos will try to do all to claim a silverware as race in La Liga will go all the way.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid have done extremely well in this competition this year as having relegated Barcelona and it’s no easy feat.
Real Madrid will be a different challenge though and winning two back to back against Real and Barca will also have them in good stead for La Liga.
Diego Simeone know the importance of the occasion and hence will have a full strength side at disposal. With depth in the final third they might just already be having an edge.
Team news and possible lineups
Thomas Lemar, Diego Costa and Koke will all be not available for Atletico for the Spanish Super Cup final through injuries.
As for Los Blancos, Gareth Bale has a chest infection and will not be in action on Sunday.
Karim Benzema is doubtful meaning a place for Luka Jovic in the playing XI.
Real Madrid have lot of options in the final third with James Rodriguez, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes.
Atletico Madrid XI : Oblak, Trippier, Savic, Gimenez, Lodi, Saul, Thomas, Herrera, Correa, Felix, Morata.
Real Madrid XI : Courtois, Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy, Valverde, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco, Jovic.
Prediction
Real Madrid are missing some key players and with Atletico Madrid having good options in the final third. It just might be the night for Atletico Madrid to rule and edge Los Blancos 1-0 in the final.
