Morata stars as Chelsea edge United 1-0
It was a big game as two big clubs faced each other in an important match. But one team came out on top and one didn’t. Perhaps it was Chelsea’s night.
After that win which benefited Manchester City, their is an eight point lead at the top. As the table stands going into the November international break, City are on top with 31 points.
The next best team on the table is Manchester United with 23 points. The Blues are now fourth on the table with 22 points just below Spurs who are on 23 as well.
The match looked like heading towards a draw until Alvaro Morata’s header put Chelsea in the driver’s seat.
Antonio Conte’s side have now erased the memories of a 0-3 defeat to Roma in the Champions League. Expectations are once again high at the Bridge.
David Luiz was omitted from the squad which came as a surprise to everyone. Andreas Christensen replaced him in the defense.
Their is no denial that Chelsea played the better football and were deserved winners. But United had their chances which they didn’t take.
Morata’s goal ended his drought of goals for Chelsea and he linked up brilliantly with Cesar Azpilicueta.
Jose Mourinho made couple of substitutions as Phil Jones and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were replaced by Marouane Fellaini and Anthony Martial.
While Chelsea went the defensive as they brought in Antonio Rudiger and Danny Drinkwater in place of Davide Zappacosta and Cesc Fabregas.
Morata had a few chances more to put the game to bed but he missed. As for United, Fellaini missed his chances as Thibaut Courtois was brilliant in the game.
Later Chelsea went on to hold on to the lead to deny United anything from the game. It was a good game for the Blues supporters.
