Liverpool victors in the Merseyside derby
Liverpool vs Everton – The Merseyside derby
Mane, Coutinho & Origi score for The Reds
Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 8th minute for the reds from a moment of individual brilliance. Liverpool were going well in the Merseyside derby before Matthew Pennigton equalized in the 29th minute for Everton, a wonderful personal moment for Pennington.
But the happiness was shortlived because another wonderful goal from Philippe Coutinho gave the reds once again an edge, it was 2-1 to Liverpool.
So at half time Everton were trailing, happy break for Jurgen Klopp and not so much for Ronald Koeman.
Second half began with some positive intent from both teams. Now the clock struck 60 minutes and it was time for some fresh legs or substitutions, though ironically Sadio Mane was injured for Liverpool and had to be substituted.
Divock Origi then came in place of Sadio Mane and soon after he scored the 3rd goal for Liverpool sealing all the three points for the reds! Sadly for Everton, they had to play the catch up game till 90 minutes were over. There were no further goals in the game and the reds were on their way to three points.
All in all Liverpool fans should be delighted to see things turning out the way as they did. Liverpool can now hope for similar performances ahead and try to finish as high up the table as possible.
Also with Manchester United dropping points at home and obviously Liverpool winning, it also boasts latters chances for Champions League qualification.
Jurgen Klopp certainly would want to win every game that they now play but Liverpool have to be careful of complacency. But for now the fans and players will enjoy this wonderful, hard fought Merseyside derby victory over Everton.
Liverpool’s next game is a home game in midweek on Wednesday night at home against Bournemouth, which is all theirs to loose.
