Liverpool kick start their 2017/18 Premier League campaign with a trip to Vicarage Road
Liverpool will start their new Premier League season with a match against Watford. The Reds will be eyeing a win to propel their campaign.
Kick-off : 11:30 AM (Local)
Venue : Vicarage Road, Watford
Referee : Anthony Taylor
Liverpool have been winning their curtain-raising fixtures to a new Premier League campaign in the last 4 years. They will be looking to do the same while their opponents will be having a tough ask.
This season Liverpool have Champions League commitments and Jurgen Klopp knows that it will be a lot of work to manage both the league and UCL.
Last season Liverpool looked to end their PL drought when they had 39 points from 48 on offer in the final four months of 2016. But once again failed to finish on top as Chelsea were the champions.
Klopp has certainly added some depth in the squad by having – Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke. Although they have been trying to bring in Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita from Southampton and RB Leipzig respectively as well.
For Klopp it’s still not assured UCL as they first must overcome Hoffenheim over the two legs. He certainly knows about Hoffenheim more as from his time in Germany.
As for Watford, their skipper Troy Deeney is doubtful due to groin strain in this game. While their new signing Gray shall appear against Liverpool.
Roberto Pereyra, Richarlison, Will Hughes are likely to feature in this game for the Hornets.
Adam Lallana who is having a thigh injury will be missing action for 3 months for Liverpool. Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge are also unlikely to feature as they are carrying knocks.
Nathaniel Clyne and Philippe Coutinho shall not be available as well for the Reds.
Watford Possible XI : Gomes, Prodl, Janmaat, Britos, Holebas, Hughes, Chalobah, Amrabat, Capoue, Cleverly, Gray.
Liverpool Possible XI : Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Matip, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah.
Prediction
I think Liverpool are gonna edge Watford 2-0 as they have a neck of winning the first game of a new campaign. As for the Hornets the wait for a win in the first game of a new campaign will carry on.
