India and The West Indies will go head to head on Sunday in Trinidad & Tobago as both teams eye first win in the ODI series of the ongoing India tour of West Indies 2019. Team India go into this game as the favourites.

Date & Time : 11th August 2019, 7:00 PM IST

Venue : Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain

Team India had a very fruitful T20I series of the current tour but they will have all their focus now on the ODI leg of the tour. They will have to play their brand of cricket.

West Indies won’t make it easy but they are not so much strong nowadays in the ODI format, India should capitalise on the fact. In recent tours to the Caribbean, team India have dominated on most occasions.

They will be disappointed with the World Cup debacle and must gather every thought together, motivate themselves enough to beat the Windies to bring happiness on the faces of fans back home.

If plan goes out well in the second ODI, India should score in access 300 runs while batting first and be clinical with the bowl, fielders supporting their bowlers.

The pitch is though on the slower side and targets must be assessed with the batsmen having a clue of the conditions in Trinidad.

On the other hand, The West Indies should now be in a mood which will be shattered by their upsetting of India in a format which they love.

Now onto the format which they are not performing that much these days which is the one-day format. India is a team which masters this ODI format, so they should be vary.

The need to be producing enough runs with the bat to outplay India and in the second ODI they will have to be at their best with the bowl as well giving their all against the visitors.

India will also look to improve their record against The Windies in ODI’s in which they are behind.

Team news and possible line-ups

Roston Chase is available for The West Indies and will likely play.

As for Team India, Shreyas Iyer is available and might play.

West Indies XI : E. Lewis, Gayle, S. Hope (WK), Pooran, Hetmyer, Holder (C), F. Allen, R. Chase, Roach, Cottrell, O. Thomas.

India XI : R. Sharma, Dhawan, Kohli (C), S. Iyer, Jadhav, Pant (WK), Jadeja, B. Kumar, Shami, K. Yadav, K. Ahmed.

Prediction

I expect an Indian win here giving them a 1-0 lead.
