India will play South Africa on Thursday in the first ODI of the six match series. Both teams will be looking for a win.

Date and Time : 1st February 2018, 4:30 PM IST

Venue : Kingsmead, Durban

Team India will be in a much confident mood ahead of the one-dayers as they ended the Test series on a high. They should carry forward that momentum.

India have been doing well in the ODI’s in recent times but will need to be vary of this dangerous South African side playing at home.

Both teams are good one-day outfits and we can expect it to be a highly competitive series. Although South Africa will be without AB de Villiers for the first three games.

India doesn’t have a particularly good record at Durban. But they will hope to improve that this time around. Also the wicket here is bowler friendly.

The captain who wins the toss here will elect to bat first. As chasing here is a bit tough as it has been in recent times.

Team news and possible line-ups

Khaya Zondo is available and might make his ODI debut in de Villiers absence. Also Andile Phehlukwayo might get a place in the playing XI.

As for India, Kohli will have to choose between Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav for a place in the playing XI.

South Africa XI : De Kock (WK), Amla, Du Plessis (C), Duminy, Miller, Zondo, Phehlukwayo, Rabada, Morkel, Ngidi, Tahir.

India XI : R. Sharma, Dhawan, Kohli (C), Iyer, Jadhav, Dhoni (WK), H. Pandya, B. Kumar, Shami, Chahal, Bumrah.

Prediction

It promises to be a closely fought contest on Thursday. Both teams will give their all. May the best team on the day who commit less mistakes win.
