India eye Semi Final birth in the 2017 Champions Trophy
India and Sri Lanka are set to go head to head in London as Group B fixtures move ahead. India will inch closer to the Semi Final if they beat Sri Lanka.
Both the teams will be hoping for a full 50 over match. The weather gods may intervene yet again, as they did during India’s previous game. If the match isn’t rain affected, India have better chances then Sri Lanka.
India can score highly & then defend it as well, but they would likely stick with Plan A – field first. Virat Kohli will be left with choices to either bat first or chase, since the Duckworth/Lewis System (DL) commands the scoring in rain affected matches.
India’s fielding was a big concern in the game against Pakistan. Team India would like to improve quickly on that aspect, as they are a good fielding unit. Sri Lanka wouldn’t give any chances when it comes to fielding, as they themselves are a good fielding unit.
On paper, India are definitely the better side then the Sri Lankans. It’s sort of a mismatch, but on a given day anything could happen. India can’t afford to take the Lankans lightly.
India have a formidable batting line-up, which is being backed by a very capable bowling attack. Angelo Mathews is still doubtful, due to him having form & fitness concerns. Upul Tharanga on the other hand have added insult to injury as he is suspended for two matches.
