India eye second win in the Nidahas Trophy
India are set to play Sri Lanka for the second time in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy on Monday. Both teams will be looking for a win.
Date and Time : 12th March 2018, 7:00 PM IST
Venue : R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
India and Sri Lanka have both won once and lost once so far in the Nidahas Trophy. They will be hoping to win again to inch closer to the final.
The tournament is now evenly poised after Bangladesh’s unexpected victory over hosts Sri Lanka on Saturday. All three teams are now on two points each after the first round of matches with a win each and a loss each.
Sri Lanka though have the advantage at the moment with a better net run rate and if they win on Monday then they will seal their spot in the final.
The pitch at the Premadasa is high scoring and the batsmen will have to take the responsibility to post 200+ totals in order to give their bowlers a chance.
India lead the head to head against Sri Lanka in T20I’s having won 10 and lost 5 out of the 15 games played between them thus far.
Team news and possible line-ups
Sri Lanka will be without Dinesh Chandimal for this game as due to suspension. It means Isuru Udana will replace him in the playing XI. While Thisara Perera will captain the team.
As for India, they might look to play Axar Patel in place of Rishabh Pant on Monday.
Sri Lanka XI : Gunathilaka, K. Mendis, K. Perera (WK), Tharanga, T. Perera (C), J. Mendis, Shanaka, A. Dananjaya, N. Pradeep, Chameera, Udana.
India XI : R. Sharma (C), Dhawan, Raina, M. Pandey, D. Karthik (WK), V. Shankar, A. Patel, S. Thakur, Unadkat, Chahal, W. Sundar.
Prediction
It will be a close game as both teams will give their all. May the best team who commits less mistakes on the night win.
