India eye 2-0 at the Eden Gardens against Australia
India and Australia are all set to play in the second ODI of the five match series on Thursday. India once again go into this game as the favorites.
Date and Time : 21 September 2017, 1:30 PM IST
Venue : Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Australia were all themselves to blame for the loss in the first ODI. They let slip the grip on the match as once India were 87/5. They should have restricted India under 250.
While India will take a lot of positives from the Chennai game as they got out of jail. Hardik Pandya is proving to be a brilliant all-rounder in the team.
In this game though, the Aussies will look to bounce back. India have to be careful and shouldn’t be complacent against the world champions.
India have played Australia once before at Kolkata where Ricky Ponting’s men beat Sourav Ganguly’s men in the TVS cup final.
Team news and possible line-ups
Australia might want to rest Adam Zampa in the second ODI as they will be tempted to play a pacer. Zampa was pretty expensive in the last game and was targeted by Hardik Pandya.
Kane Richardson will likely play in his place. Hilton Cartwright will probably be given a rest as well as he failed with the bat in the first game. Peter Handscomb is likely to play in his place.
As for India, they will likely play the same XI. Although Mohammed Shami might get a chance to play on his home ground. If conditions so demand then we might see him as well.
Australia XI : Smith (C), Warner, Head, Handscomb, Maxwell, Stoinis, Wade (WK), Faulkner, Coulter-Nile, Cummins, Richardson.
India XI : Kohli (C), Rohit, Rahane, M. Pandey, Dhoni (C), Jadhav, Pandya, B. Kumar, K. Yadav, Bumrah, Chahal.
Prediction
I expect India to win this game if rain doesn’t play spoilsport.
