India blown away by Evin Lewis ton
Evin Lewis scored a match winning century as the West Indies beat India comprehensively by 9 wickets in the only T20I. Earlier India batted well to post a score of 190/6 (20).
It was total dominance by the West Indies batters and the Indian bowlers had a very little say. Since starting cautiously the West Indies suddenly began to pick up pace, hitting sixes after sixes.
In his innings of 125* Lewis hit 12 disdainful sixes. His innings was the highest score in a T20I chase. Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels together scored just 54 runs from the other side, as the Windies got to the total in 18.3 overs.
On the other hand India got off to a flying start, with India’s fifty coming in the fifth over. India got 13 runs each from the 1st and 2nd overs. But since Kohli got out, India couldn’t capitalize much on the start.
Rishabh Pant given a chance in this game, couldn’t time the ball. He got Dhawan run out and was not himself able to score fluently. He might be one of the reasons that India was not able to post a score of over 200 runs, which once looked easily achievable.
Dinesh Karthik was good with the bat in this game as he hit 3 sixes, batted fluently and carried the Indian innings. But the Windies bowlers restricted India and eventually India finished under 200.
Jerome Taylor and Kesrick Williams picked up a couple of wickets each. They though got hit for boundaries but picked up crucial wickets.
Ashwin and Jadeja got 18 runs of the last over to boost India’s total to 190. MS Dhoni failed with the bat in this game as did Kedar Jadhav.
Kuldeep Yadav was the only bowler from the Indian side who picked up a wicket and which was the West Indies’s only wicket to fall.
Overall India will be disappointed at loosing the game but they know that the West Indies are dangerous in this format of the game.
