France eye semi-final berth as they take on two time world champions Uruguay
France and Uruguay are set to go head to head on Friday in the Quarter-Finals of 2018 FIFA World Cup as both teams eye a place in the Semi-Finals. Both teams will be looking for a win.
Kick-off : 5:00 PM (Local)
Venue : Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, Nizhny Novgorod
France the 1998 world champions who are looking to win their second title have got some serious task ahead to reach the semi’s. France are in form and played well to oust the Argentinians and should do well against their neighbours Uruguay.
They shouldn’t complacent and look to play normal football. If they do so I am sure that should see them through.
On the other hand, Uruguay themselves will be keen to reach world cup Semi-Finals and will do all they can.
The French challenge will be tough and Uruguay will have to give their all and hope for the best.
France does not have a particularly good track record against Uruguay and Uruguay have the advantage going into this game.
Team news and possible line-ups
Edison Cavani is doubtful for the weekend game as due to injury. While Luis Suarez is available and will play.
As for France, Blaise Matuidi will be unavailable as due to suspension. While Djibril Sidibe is a doubt as due to injury.
Uruguay XI : Muslera, M. Caceres, Gimenez, Godin, Laxalt, Nandez, Torreira, Vecino, Bentancur, Arrascaeta, Suarez.
France XI : Lloris, Pavard, R. Varane, Umtiti, Hernandez, P. Pogba, Kante, Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe, Giroud.
Prediction
I expect it to be a tightly fought game. Although I think France should emerge as winners. It might end 2-1. The goalscorers could be Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe for France and Luis Suarez for Uruguay.
