Five time world champions Brazil make a shocking exit at 2018 FIFA World Cup
5 time world champions Brazil got knocked out at the hands of Belgium after the latter played the football of their life. The final scoreline was 2-1 in favor of the Western Europeans.
Belgium looked solid and determined from the start as they drew first blood in the 13th minute as also due to help of Fernandinho that they took a 1-0 lead. It was an own goal.
The Brazilians were chasing the game now and it looked we might be in a for a thriller. Brazil created a few chances for themselves but that wasn’t enough as they still trailed.
Belgian Maestro Kevin De Bruyne made it 2-0 Belgium in the 31st minute through a brilliant goal and the game seemed to be done for the South Americans.
The first half seemed to have well and truly belonged to the Belgians as they played like champions as we approached half-time. It ended 2-0 in the first half for Belgium as Brazil found life difficult.
The second half was always going to be dominated by Brazil as they sought a comeback but were always struggling to score despite giving their best. The Belgians defended well and were just too good on the night.
In the end Brazil found a consolation goal Renato Agusto but time seemed not to be on their side as we approached full time. Brazil did all they could to take the game to extra time but it just wasn’t their day.
Belgium prevailed in the end causing shock waves across the footballing world. Brazil were humbled once again by an European nation as they have been in the past three world cups.
Lessons to be learned for the South Americans but joy for the Western Europeans as they bid to claim their first ever FIFA World Cup trophy. Belgium will play France next in the Semi’s.
