FIFA World Cup 2022 – Saudi Arabia vs Mexico, Group C, match preview, predicted lineups
Saudi Arabia and Mexico go head to head on Wednesday in FIFA World Cup Qatar Group C as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.
Kick-off : 10:00 PM (Local)
Venue : Lusail Stadium, Lusail
Mexico have left themselves no honour in their opening two World Cup games so far having yet to score. They need magic to qualify from here now.
El Tri’s defence was breached against Lionel Messi’s Argentina and they have now defensive foes after the first game. They need to correct that and attack to combat the final group opponents.
Boss Martino might go with a 4-3-3 system on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia after an astonishing effort first up to defeat the Argentinians lost to Poland as they now battle to qualify.
The Green Falcons now require a solid backline to not concede at least once in the tournament plus be attacking up front.
Manager Herve Renard will use his 4-1-4-1 formation on Wednesday.
Team news and possible lineups
Abdulelah Al-Malki is suspended for Saudi Arabia for the midweek fixture so either of Ali Al-Hassan or Nawaf Al-Abed might come in. While Mohammed Al-Burayk, Yasir Al-Shahrani and Salman Al-Faraj remain absent.
As for the Mexicans, Raul Jimenez is available and will likely play.
Mexico XI : G. Ochoa, Sanchez, Moreno, Montes, Gallardo, Herrera, Guardado, Chavez, Lozano, Jimenez, Vega.
Saudi Arabia XI : Al-Owais, Abdulhamid, Al-Amri, Tambakti, Al-Ghannam, Kanno, Al-Buraikan, Al-Hassan, Al-Najei, Al-Dawsari, Al-Shehri.
Prediction
I think it will be a closely fought contest with the two teams giving their all and I have a good feeling that this game might end in a draw, a 1-1 draw.
