Ernesto Valverde Sacked by Barcelona, Quique Setien named as replacement
Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has been sacked as Quique Setien replaces him at the helm
Amidst intense speculation since the Monday morning, it’s now official that the 55 year old is now sacked.
He has been quite good for Barcelona as their manager winning LaLiga twice under his tenure including Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup.
New boss Setien’s contract runs until 2022. In an official statement the club mentioned the ending of Valverde’s contract. Here’s the tweet :

Barcelona are currently top of LaLiga on goal difference to rivals Real Madrid. But they suffered a setback to Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana and it might have been the down point.
Club’s website did express gratitude towards Valverde’s professionalism. Barca family wishes him good luck for his future.
In terms of the Champions League, Valverde and his team did fell short in previous campaigns. Liverpool and Roma progressed at their expense.
High level meetings took place between the Clubs top personalties. Josep Maria Bartomeu and Valverde did meet on Monday.
Xavi was another name which came into focus for the coach position of Barca, although Xavi will have his focus on Qatari club Al Sadd.
Xavi said, it will be his dream to coach Barca, a club he has been a part of lot historically but right now is not in position to be Barcelona coach.
