England vs Greece – UEFA Nations League 2024/25, Preview

Eng vs Gre
England play Greece in the Nations League on Thursday night

England and Greece go head to head on Thursday in Nations League 2024/25 League-B, Group-2 as the competition moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.

Kick-off : 6:45 PM (Local)

Venue : Wembley Stadium, London

England will look to register another three crucial points in their quest for the Continental glory as they stand in the top two section also containing the likes of Greece, Ireland and Finland. The Three Lions are currently with 6 points in 2 games with a +4 Goal difference.

In the previous games they were clinical in outplaying opponents in Finland & Ireland respectively with 2-0 margins. Greece must  prove to be stiff opponents. After Greece they play Finland in Helsinki in 3 days time.

Manager Lee Carsley and his troops will likely line-up in a 4-2-3-1.

On the other hand, Southern Europeans Greece had too a fantastic start to the campaign with comfortable victories over Finland & Ireland respectively. They stand at top in Group-2, League-B with 6 points from 2 games and a +5 Goal difference.

It shouldn’t now be so easy ahead and with England as opponents in games to come it will be a stern test.

Manager Ivan Jovanovic and his men should string together in a 4-2-3-1 likely.

Team news and possible line-ups

Fotis Ioannidis is out injured for Greece for the midweek game.

As for England, Ezri Konsa, Morgan Gibbs-White and Kobbie Mainoo are all out with injuries.

England XI : Pickford, Alexander-Arnold, Stones, Colwill, Lewis, Bellingham, Rice, Saka, Palmer, Watkins, Foden.

Greece XI : Vlachodimos, Rota, Mavropanos, Koulierakis, Tsimikas, Siopis, Kourbelis, Masouras, Bakasetas, Tzolis, Pavlidis.

Prediction

It should be a good contest between two top teams as they will look to dominate though in the end I expect England to clinch three points.
