BBL 2022/23 – Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Thunder, match preview, predicted lineups
Melbourne Renegades take on Sydney Thunder on Sunday in 2022/23 BBL as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.
Date and Time : 18th December 2022, 7:15 PM (Local)
Venue : Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Melbourne Renegades were clinical in their first game of the campaign to pull of a victory against Brisbane Heat by good 22 runs. They will now look to win matches as they come.
The Gades are 3rd in the points table. They know batting needs to be clicked again as teams look to get the job done. Bowling wise their bowlers need to be positive.
Coach David Saker knows his role of motivating his players to play the match situations confidently.
On the other hand, Sydney Thunder despite their opening day victory over the Stars looked completely out of shape in their previous game when they batted their way out for just 15 runs and lost by mammoth 124 runs against the Adelaide Strikers. They need to avoid such hiccups.
The Thunder’s are currently 5th in the points table. Batting wise they now need to take the responsibility. While bowlers will have to keep doing the good work.
Head coach Trevor Bayliss needs to be tactically good as games come thick and fast.
For the pitch, batting will be favoured as teams will look to bat first.
Team news and possible lineups
There are no fresh injury concerns for both sides at the moment.
Melbourne Renegades XI : Finch, Fraser-McGurk, S. Harper, A. Hosein, Maddinson (C), M. Ur Rahman, K. Richardson, T. Rogers, Wells, Russell, Sutherland.
Sydney Thunder XI : O. Davies, Doggett, Gilkes, C. Green, Hales, A. Ross, Rossouw, Sams, J. Sangha (C), Farooqi, G. Sandhu.
Prediction
I think at home the Renegades will be favourites to win and if Sydney Thunder doesn’t avoid batting hiccups then it should be a close game which maybe in the end won by the Melbourne side.
