Arsenal take all three points in Premier League opener
Arsenal started their 2017/18 Premier League campaign with a bang as they get all the three points. It was a goal fest as both teams found the net at least thrice, with the Gunners adding one more to win it.
It was at the very beginning that Arsenal got the lead with new signing Alexandre Lacazette scoring in the 2nd minute. Although Shinji Okazaki didn’t take long to equalize in the 5th minute.
Lacazette became the first Arsenal player to score on his Premier League debut since Thomas Vermaelen in 2009. He scored by heading the ball from a cross from Mohamed Elneny.
It was in the 29th minute that Albrighton ran into a poor Granit Xhaka pass and delivered a perfectly placed cross past Petr Cech into the path of Vardy, who scored from four yards.
Arsenal though equalized just at the stroke of half time when Danny Welbeck scored from a pass from Kolasinac.
As the 2nd half began it was 2-2 but soon it changed to 3-2 in favor of Leicester. Jamie Vardy rose to meet Riyad Mahrez’s header in the 56th minute to direct it inside the back post.
Arsene Wenger then made the move of the match in the 67th minute, as he made a double change, putting Giroud and Ramsey for Elneny and Rob Holding.
The persistent efforts later paid off when Ramsey received a cross from Xhaka and made it 3 apiece.
And a minute later Lacazette had the crowd on their feet as he got past the defenders and unleashed a shot that Schmeichel tipped over for a corner.
Later Xhaka sent the ball in and it fell to Giroud, who powered in a header to win the match for Arsenal!
And it was wild celebrations at the Emirates as the Gunners got all the three points.
