Argentina will look for three points as they host Peru
Argentina will host Peru on Thursday night in World Cup 2018 qualifiers. Both teams will be looking for three points.
Kick-off : 9:30 PM (Local)
Venue : La Bombonera, Buenos Aires
Argentina are in a must win situation as a win against Peru will propel their chances of qualifying and a defeat will make it tougher.
If they loose at La Bombonera then they will probably be outside of even the play-off place in the table.
They can turn it around with the talent they have got Argentina, their should be no excuse for the position the are in.
Messi needs to come good in this game and with the likes of Mauro Icardi, Paulo Dybala and co, it shouldn’t be that hard a task on Thursday to get three points.
Peru on the other hand have won three on the bounce against Uruguay, Bolivia and Ecuador.
Team news and possible line-ups
Christian Martin will not be available for Peru in this game as due to suspension. Other than that the team will remain the same as in previous games.
Paolo Guerrero will captain Peru against Argentina.
As for La Albiceleste, they will likely field their strongest team on Thursday in quest of maximum points. Sergio Aguero will not be available as due to injury.
Rest of the Argentina squad remains the same as in previous games as Jorge Sampaoli will be hoping for the best.
Peru XI : Butron, Rodriguez, Advincula, Ramos, Corzo, Yotun, Carrilo, Cueva, Hurtado, Guerrero, Farfan.
Argentina XI : Romero, Mascherano, Otamendi, Mercado, Fazio, Di Maria, Gago, Banega, Biglia, Messi, Dybala.
Prediction
Seeing both teams recent form, it’s not a given that Argentina will definitely win. But La Albiceleste certainly are the favorites for this game. I expect Argentina to win this game 2-1.
