MS Dhoni and bowlers give India a comfortable win
India thrashed the West Indies in the 3rd ODI by 93 runs at Antigua. They now have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five match series, with the first game being washed out.
MS Dhoni scored 78 runs of 79 balls and together with Kedar Jadhav (40* of 26) amassed 100 runs from the last 10 overs. It helped India reach a par score of 251/4 (50) on that ground. Earlier in the innings, Rahane continued his good form and scored another fifty to anchor the Indian innings.
The Indian bowlers then took over and proved to be too good for this inexperienced West Indies batting line-up. Windies were bowled out for a lowly 158 in 38.1 overs.
Umesh Yadav (1/32) gave India the early breakthrough, Hardik Pandya (2/32) was as usual good with his short balls. While chinaman Kuldeep Yadav (3/41) was impressive once again and used his wrong ones to good effect. Ravichandran Ashwin (3/28), making a comeback in the team after injury, troubled the batsman with his accuracy.
The West Indies on the other hand found the going with the bat, once again tough as they struggled against pace and spin both. They had a relatively good outing with the ball though.
Hope brothers, Shai and Kyle showed some resistance with the bat, having a partnership of 45 runs for the second wicket. But Kyle who was debuting fell to the short ball tactics of Pandya.
The Caribbean team lost half their side before the 100 run mark. It looked like, we are going to see another collapse of the Windies batting line-up.
Rovman Powell and Jason Mohammed got something positive for the Windies to take out with a 54-run stand between them. But Kuldeep Yadav got Powell out with his wrong one.
Later the West Indian tail-enders showed little resistance and were bowled out for a way below par score.
India will take many positives from the game as they will take on the West Indies in the 4th ODI again here at Antigua on Sunday, looking for a series win.
