Five time world champions Brazil eye Quarter-Final berth in 2018 FIFA World Cup as they take on Mexico
Brazil and Mexico are set to go head to head on Wednesday evening in the Round of 16 as they both eye Quarter-Final berth. Brazil go into this game as the favorites.
Kick-off : 5:00 PM (Local)
Venue : Cosmos Arena, Samara
Brazil the five time world champions are now red hot favorites to win their sixth title as many of the big names are out of the tournament. They are always favorites anyways and have now Mexico in their way and the Quarter-Finals.
The Selecao needs to avoid complacency against the fellow Latin American team in Mexico who shocked Germany in the group stages. But if they play with their flair then they will be unstoppable.
On the other hand, Mexico themselves will be extremely hungry for success but they know it’s going to be an extremely difficult task.
Playing Brazil in a world cup for an underdog is always hard and I think Mexico can just give their best and hope for the best.
Brazil have a better head to head record against Mexico and I think they will look to make that count.
Team news and possible line-ups
Hector Moreno will be unavailable for Mexico for the Monday evening game as due to suspension. While Hugo Ayala is available and might play.
As for Brazil, Douglas Costa will be unavailable as due to injury. Whereas Danilo and Marcelo are both doubtful.
Mexico XI : Ochoa, Alvarez, Salcedo, Ayala, Gallardo, Guardado, Herrera, Lozano, Vela, Layun, Hernandez.
Brazil XI : Alisson, Fagner, Silva, Miranda, Luis, Casemiro, Paulinho, Coutinho, Willian, Neymar, Jesus.
Prediction
I expect it to be a close game as Mexico are gonna give good fight. But in the end I think Brazil should win. The final scoreline could be Brazil 2-1 Mexico.
