Hazard’s goal seals the 2017/18 FA Cup title for the Blues
Chelsea won the FA Cup yesterday after overcoming Manchester United 1-0 in the final. Eden Hazard scored the winning and only goal of the game through a penalty.
Chelsea will be very pleased with the victory in the FA Cup as they had a disappointing Premier League season. But United has every right to be disappointed as they didn’t win the Premier League and now the chances of the FA Cup glory is also gone.
Both teams started pretty well and looking for the opportunities to score and get in front but the scoreline remained goalless until the first goal happened in the 22nd minute.
Eden Hazard was brought down by Phil Jones in the penalty box and that earned him a penalty. He then later converted it to make it 1-0 on the night for Chelsea.
United fought hard after they conceded to make a comeback but were unsuccessful in the first half. As a result the second half was the do or die for Man United.
But Chelsea defended pretty solidly and made sure that their was no way that United may come back into the game. Their were a few close chances but both teams never looked like scoring another goal and as result their were no goals.
Jose Mourinho must have been disappointed by his boys performance on the day but was not ready to give up and later made two double substitutions in the game as Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford made way for Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.
Lukaku and Martial weren’t able to produce the magic and United failed to score and as a result they were not able to take the game to extra-time. Chelsea later deservedly held on to clinch the title.
This is Chelsea’s eighth FA Cup title leveling with Tottenham Hotspur on third.
