Spain takes on Colombia at the Neuva Condomia
Spain and Colombia are set to go head to head in an international friendly at Neuva Condomia on Wednesday night. The Spanish will look for victory to improve their FIFA world rankings & reconfirm their stature as world football heavyweights.
Jose Pekerman’s Colombia will also be looking for a win to consolidate their world ranking of 5. Although the game against Spain will be a sterner test for Los Cafeteros.
Team and Tactics :-
Spain
Unlike some other top teams in Europe, Spain have gone for the superstars in their team. David De Gea should keep the Spanish goal, while Sergio Ramos & Gerard Pique should partner the central defence. Jordi Alba should be the left back choice.
Marco Asensio have been performing well, so he gets a call up by Lopetegui. Asier Illaramendi has also been called up for the national squad & should make his debut. While Vitolo will continue to play under Lopetegui.
Other notable players include Thiago, who has emerged as a holding midfielder & deep-lying playmaker. He should do the required work for Lopetegui.
Probable Line-up (4-3-3) : De Gea, Carvajal, Ramos, Pique, Alba, Isco, Thiago, koke, Pedro, Costa, Vitolo.
Colombia
Colombia, much like Spain, have gone for their mega stars. Guys like Radamel Falco & Carlos Bacca will be the main men upfront. While David Ospina should keep for Colombia.
Davinson Sanchez & Yerry Mina have been performing well recently. The youngsters would like to perform well against Spain & justify their linking up rumours to FC Barcelona.
James Rodriguez will have all the eyes on him though, as the Real Madrid superstar could cause Spain some trouble on the day.
All in all, Pekerman will likely attack through the wings & lets hope for a great game.
Probable Line-up (4-2-1-3) : Ospina, Arias, Sanchez, Mina, Armero, Carlos, Sanchez, Barrios, Rodriguez, Cuadrado, Bacca, Falcao.
Prediction
It should be a 1-1 draw considering both teams recent form. However Spain can edge Colombia as well.
