United look for three points as they host Benfica in the Champions League
Manchester United is all set to play Benfica on Tuesday night in the Champions League as the season moves ahead. United go into this game as the favorites.
Kick-off : 7:45 PM (Local)
Venue : Old Trafford, Stretford
Man United edge closer to qualification to next round. If they win on Tuesday night at home against Benfica then they will qualify surely.
Jose Mourinho’s side edged the Portuguese champions 1-0 in the first match of their Group A double-header.
The Red Devils rivals FC Basel and CSKA Moscow will play each other. So United have a good chance of qualifying if they win and CSKA fail to win.
Manchester United and Benfica have played each other 10 times so far. Out of that Man United have won seven times while Benfica have won only once and two games have been a draw.
But it should be a good game on Tuesday night as both teams will give their all.
Team news and possible line-ups
Andre Almeida and Luisao will both be not available for Benfica on Tuesday night as they are suspended.
While Douglas Costa will also be not available as due to an ankle injury.
As for Manchester United, they remain without Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Michael Carrick though is available and set to return on Tuesday night.
Benfica XI : Svilar, L. Lopez, Grimaldo, Eliseu, Pereira, Fejsa, F. Augusto, Samaris, R. Jimenez, Jonas, Barbosa.
Manchester United XI : De Gea, Darmian, Lindelof, Jones, Blind, Carrick, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Martial, Lukaku.
Prediction
While it’s not a given that Manchester United will win on Tuesday night, they certainly go into this game as the favorites. I expect Man United to get the job done and qualify to knockout stages. I think the scoreline will be 2-0.
