FIFA World Cup 2022 – Iran vs USA, Group B, match preview, predicted lineups
Asian heavyweights Iran take on The USA in a fascinating Group B encounter on Tuesday as the tournament moves ahead. Both teams will be looking for a win here.
Kick-off : 10:00 PM (Local)
Venue : Al Thumama Stadium, Doha
Iran after a horrendous start to their World Cup campaign have managed to claw their way back into the competition with a good 2-0 victory over the Welsh. They will now look to make it to the knockouts.
Team Melli can be solid at the back and they will need to against the US. Also attack wise they have the options and it should be strategised.
Boss Carlos Queiroz will go with a 4-3-3 system on Tuesday.
On the other hand, The US despite being good over the two matches have not really taken it to the next level with just two points on the board. They will need to get the job done against Iran.
The Stars and Stripes have been good defensively but they lack attack wise the difference maker. They need to be clinical going forward.
Manager Gregg Berhalter will use a 4-4-2 system against the Asians.
Team news and possible lineups
The USA has no fresh injury concerns at the moment.
As for the Iranians, Alireza Jahanbakhsh won’t be available for Tuesday due to suspension. While Sardar Azmoun is a doubt. Also Alireza Beiranvand is available and might play.
Iran XI : H. Hosseini, Rezaeian, M. Hosseini, Pouraliganji, Mohammadi, A. Gholizadeh, Nourollahi, Ezatolahi, Hajsafi, Taremi, Azmoun.
USA XI : Turner, Dest, Zimmerman, Ream, Robinson, Adams, Musah, McKennie, Pulisic, Weah, Wright.
Prediction
It should be a tight contest between two teams looking for a place in final 16 but if one team to be chosen on the day then obviously USA win 1-0.
