Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to play each other in the Supercopa de Espana on Sunday night. It will be the first of the two legs.
Kick-off : 22:00 CEST
Venue : Camp Nou, Barcelona
Referee : Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea
Last season Real Madrid dominated the La Liga and Barca won the Copa del Rey for the third straight time. So they meet for the Super Cup title and it will be for the very first time since 2012.
The winner of the Super Cup will not necessarily be the best team in Spain but certainly the win will be a laid platform.
If Barca win it, they will be boasted for the new campaign. Ernesto Valverde will be having a very important win against the club’s biggest rival. The loss of Neymar is huge and they will be wanting to show that they can still do it.
Real Madrid on the bother hand are certainly the best team in Europe at the moment. Zinedine Zidane has made this team extremely competent and can beat anyone. He will be eager to get another trophy.
They are certainly the favorites in this game against Barcelona. But Barca will be relieved of pressure and it could go in their favor as they are the underdogs.
Team news and possible line-ups
Andre Gomes and Thomas Vermaelen miss out due to injury. Arda Turan, Marlon Santos and Sergi Samper have been left out of the squad. For Madrid, Jesus Vallejo misses out through injury and Luka Modric is suspended.
Barca have to choose between Aleix Vidal and Nelson Semedo for the right-back position. Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti should be the preferred center-back pairing.
Up front it should be Leo Messi and Suarez playing alongside Gerard Deulofeu.
Barcelona XI : Ter Stegen, Pique, Vidal, Umtiti, Alba, Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta, Messi, Suarez, Deulofeu.
Real Madrid XI : Navas, Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Modric, Casemiro, Kroos, Isco, Ronaldo, Benzema.
