Marcus Rashford shines against Celta Vigo
The game started with intensity, speed & power for Man United as they showed that they wish to win the competition to qualify for the Champions League as a bonus. Their was a certain difference between the two teams.
There is still work to be done, a second leg to play, but United are on course. “We came here to win” Mourinho said, and they did. Thanks largely to the Celta Vigo goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez because of which United have this narrow win. As United have struggled in front of the goal in recent times, they seemed satisfied to stick when they scored.
Although a comeback is not impossible, but winning at the Old Trafford is the hardest task of all. Celta sent forward the ball with urgency, had late changes as they were feeling the pressure. One positive that Celta can take is that, this was not a massive loss.
Celta were not themselves, or were not allowed to be. Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan connected well although, for none. Pogba was more bigger, powerful for the men in blue. Mkhitaryan was too quick for Hugo Mallo.
Mallo, a former ballboy at Balaidos, had described this match as a “dream” but was not enjoying, Celta’s first European semi final & he was not alone. Had United’s finishing being better Celta would have been punished more.
Iago Aspas was struggling as well in the game. He was not allowed the freedom to score. In the end the game ended well for United, & they will take the lead into Old Trafford!
